Good Morning Tuesday 4-24-2012 !!!

We had a beautiful weekend.  We traveled with some friends to Fort Bragg, CA and enjoyed just being away!!!  Sometimes we have to do that for our souls :)    It was actually more of a working weekend, well.....sort of I guess.   Our friends daughter graduates High School this year and last year she asked us about doing her daughter Senior Portraits.   Now mind you I am no photographer, but I LOVE photography.   I have been learning a little more and a little more over the past few years, and sometimes I get it right, and other times, well.....I don't :-/

My husband and I spent about 10 hours on Saturday Hiking to waterfalls, visiting Mendocino, stopping at the harbor, running over to the skunk train, and ending up at 10 mile beach....all with cameras in tow!

I think we did GREAT---obviously we are bound to get a few pictures of the 500 plus that we took :)

The best part about the whole day/weekend was we spent it with friends and family, there was no stress and we got to practice photography!   The best way I know how to learn is TRY it....and Learn from it.   Yes I am a hands on kinda girl.

Here is a little Sneak Peek

Work In Progress!

Awww Prom 2012.  I Love Prom season :)  Every year I am given the honor of custom making my daughters dress.  She thinks about starting in January and usually by March she decides on something.  She explains to me what she wants and about the time I "think" I understand and start drafting a pattern, it is not always right.  But Hey we are learning, and more than anything we are communicating.   I am going to miss this next year!

Anyways, After a few weeks of drafting, muslin, and a test dress we finalized the design.  Today I cut the Lace fabric and ran into a few sanfus--LOL   I learned to hand sew lace today :)   I thought about a dart at the corner, did not like that look, thought about gathers, but she wanted a very clean look.   Well here is it SEW far----lots of hand sewing to go, and lots of details to figure out....PROMISE it will be done before PROM.

How to make an adjustable Head Band

A fun and easy way to make an adjustable Head Band.    A little bit of elastic, a plastic ring and slide and a needle and thread or fabric tac and you will have one done in no time!   I prefer the adjustable ones, because sometimes the headbands just feel to tight, or want to slip up the back of my head.   These are GREAT for everyone, and you can make the smaller for the little one if you need to.

Rainy Tuesday

Good Morning!  Well I guess good, we need the rain, but I am ready for spring!  I want to open all the windows and get a nice breeze blowing through the house, some sunshine through the windows, and turn up some music and SEW SEW SEW.

But instead I will embrace the rain here in Northern CA, and complete a few projects, and lay out some new fabric combinations :)  All in a days work <3

Sew-A-Long Give Away :)

More information will be available SOON!!   In the meantime "who" is going to be my first follower?

Pinterest ???

Do you Pinterest?  It is a new found love/hate relationship I have found :-/   I find that it helps keep my thoughts organized, but is giving me WAY to many things to add to my "to do list".

I really would like to spend a little more time reviewing organization systems for my studio someday!!   But that will wait for another time.

I am hoping to get a new headband tutorial ready -- I have been wearing this one for hours now and loving the comfort of it!

As soon as I get it scanned and written instructions figured out I will be sharing it with you all :)   Yes this will be my first attempt at a pdf pattern and download.   ***nothing like adding to my 'to do list'   <3

Day 3

Good Morning Thursday!!!

Well yesterday I played with learning how to change the colors on the page and the fonts---yes I am still moving slowly towards progress with blogging, but taking a little bit of time each day to learn something new.

I will be working on a new design today, well something I started yesterday, and it is going to need some perfecting before it will be a ready to wear item.

Be sure to visit my fb page as that is where I usually post most pics (at least until I figure out the blog thing :)

Day 2 :-/

Good Morning Day 2

Well I am still in the learning process of blogging.  SEW I read a bunch of information last night and my head feels a bit FULL!  I am determined to learn this, you can teach an old dog new tricks *I think*

SEW something that I do know.  How about a little about me?

I am a mother of 5 incredible children, 1 son-in-law, 1 daughter-in-law, and 4 grand-children.  over the past 10 years I have had as many as 5 children serving in the military at the same time.  Currently I have a daughter serving in the active Army Reserves after spending 6 years active duty, her husband (my wonderful son-in-law) serving active duty in the US Army, and my youngest son currently deployed who will be making a career of his military service.  He was 17 when he enlisted and has as of today spent over 10 years in the US Army.  My oldest son joined the Marine Corps just out of High School, and spent 4 years with the USMC.  After returning from his last deployment, he and his wife married.....she too a Marine.   SEW there you have it 5 children (yes my "in-laws") are my children too!

I actually don't care for the word "in-law" or "step" for some reason it sounds like they are "less" than, but PLEASE understand in my heart they are the SAME as my own.  I have an amazing Mother-In-Law also---see for some people that word makes them cringe, for me I just get a warm fuzzy feeling inside--without her I would not have my AMAZING husband!

OK--Day 2 blog ready to "publish post"  perhaps I will come back and visit this day and add a few photos for you all, and hope to reflect back on it (the learning to blog part) and say "I remember trying to start this"

I will be sewing today (as I do most everyday) projects in the works are completing an apron set, and picking out some fabrics for the next project.

Let Me Sew, Let Me Sew, Let Me Sew..........
